Backed by a stellar ensemble, the album is a testament to Ayala's virtuosity and command of the music, marking him as one of the most sought-after rhythmists in the music scene today.

About Alex ‘Apolo” Ayala:

Puerto Rican bassist Alex "Apolo" Ayala-Berríos embodies the essence of a multilingual musician, seamlessly blending Afro-Caribbean roots with jazz influences. With over two decades of professional experience, he has performed, toured, and recorded with Latin music legends such as Eddie Palmieri, Gilberto Santa Rosa, and Tito Nieves, as well as esteemed jazz musicians worldwide.

Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Alex began his musical journey at age 11. He honed his skills at the "Escuela Libre de música de Hato Rey" and later earned a BA Degree in Jazz and Caribbean Music from the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music, studying under renowned bassist Eddie Gomez and saxophonist David Sanchez.

Currently based in New York City, Alex leads two ensembles: "The Bámbula Project," an Afro-Puerto Rican Jazz Quartet, and "The Afro-Puerto Rican Jazz Big Band." As a bandleader, he has released two albums, "ONWARDS" (2011) and "BÁMBULA" (2022), showcasing his versatile musicality and profound cultural influences. Additionally, he serves as Musical Director for Los Pleneros de la 21 and continues to push the boundaries of Latin jazz fusion with his innovative compositions and performances.
