About Consuelo Jerí :
She is a Quechua singer from Ayacucho, Peru, known for her profound interpretation of traditional music that conveys the soul and spirit of Andean campesino life. Her repertoire honors anonymous Quechua poetry, blending it seamlessly with mestizo guitar, which evokes the sounds of the harp and violin using ancient Andean tunings.
Over the past decade, Jerí has performed on stages across Europe and Latin America. She first gained international recognition through her participation in the award-winning Peruvian documentary “Kachkaniraqmi, I Am Still Here” (2013) by filmmaker Javier Corcuera, which won multiple international awards, including a Goya Award in 2014.
Jerí has also participated in numerous traditional and world music festivals, such as the San Sebastián Film Festival in Spain, Sonamos Latinoamérica in Belgium, and Raíces Bogotá Andina in Colombia. She was also featured in Susana Baca’s Grammy-nominated album “Epifanías” in 2023.
To date, she has released four albums, including her latest, “Zumbayllu,” presented in March 2024.
