About Sofia Ribeiro Duo:

Sofia Ribeiro and Pedro Henriques Silva duo have joined forces to create an intimate and captivating duo project. Pedro plays the Portuguese guitar, the instrument that evokes the essence of Lisbon's streets, which sets the stage for Sofia's emotive vocals to shine. Their collaborative efforts transport audiences to a deeply personal musical realm, weaving together elements of Portuguese Fado and jazz. Sofia's mesmerizing voice and Pedro's masterful skill enchant listeners from the very first note.

About Sofia Ribeiro:

Sofia is one of the greatest voices from Portugal, a magnificent singer who has the ability to immediately attract the listener to her unique musical universe. With a solid background in jazz studies, a deep connection to Portuguese traditional music and endless hours of listening to Brazilian legendary musicians, Sofia’s artistry challenges the boundaries of music labels. With ten albums as a leader, Sofia has been touring all over the world for the past 20 years. She has won several international vocal prizes, such as the vocal jazz competitions “Voicingers” (Poland, 2008) and the “Crest Jazz Vocal” (France, 2010) and the second prize at the Brussels “Young Jazz Singers” competition (Belgium, 2005). Her previous album ’Ar’ has received the prize “Révélation” from the famous magazine Jazzman (Paris, France). Sofia has a degree in Jazz Performance from ESMAE (Portugal). During her studies, she did one-year exchange programs in Barcelona at ESMUC (Barcelona, Spain), and at Berklee College of Music (Boston, US), which she did through an international scholarship. Sofia taught alongside ten-time Grammy award winner Bobby McFerrin at Omega Institute, was an artist in residence at the Carnegie Hall in New York, and recently gave a TED talk in Colombia about the power of vocal improvisation. She is well-known for her strong, emotional and uplifting performances where she enthusiastically tells stories about the songs and often invites the audience to sing with her.
