RODOLFO ARANGO:
PhD. in Constitutional Law and the Philosophy of Law, University of Kiel, Germany. He wrote his dissertation under the advice of Professor Robert Alexy and graduated summa cum Laude. Former Assistant Judge to Colombia’s Constitutional Court he is currently Professor of Philosophy at Universidad de los Andes and director of the research group “Law, justice and democracy.” Aside from his work in academia he is an engaged public intellectual, participating actively in debates regarding the social, political, and cultural issues that affect Colombia. He writes a weekly column in El Espectador. Some of his books include: Human Rights as Limits of Democracy (2008); Philosophy of democracy (editor) (2007); The Concept of Fundamental Social Rights (2005); Rights, Constitutionalism and Democracy (2004), and Are There Right Answers in Law? (1999).
