Performing some of the music from his new album Piano and Rhythm, Michael’s group covers the ground between 1950s piano-based latin instrumentals and modern latin and Cuban jazz. Members of the group have performed with a who’s who of latin jazz, salsa, and straight-ahead jazz artists.
Getting his start on the international stage with John Scofield’s New Quartet from 2009-2012, Michael is an in-demand sideman. He performs regularly in the New York area with various groups in jazz and latin jazz music, and in a number of other styles. In his newest release, Michael explores early latin and Cuban piano idioms in one segment of the recording while presenting a series of original compositions in the second. The album, “Piano With Rhythm” is released under the Jota 7 Productions label.
