Filtron M is a project by Swiss pianist, keyboarder and composer Manu Koch which serves as a platform for a multi-national group of musicians that have collaborated with him in bands and on various projects over the course of many years.
Manu Koch has been exposed to numerous genres and music cultures by working with many leading figures in contemporary music for two decades. Filtron M draws from this extensive experience as a sideman, ranging from Afro-Pop star Angélique Kidjo to projects by Miles Davis bassist and Santana’s musical director Benny Rietveld, consistently participating on productions by renowned blues/soul artist Tomás Doncker or touring internationally with the New York Gypsy All-Stars.
Characteristic for the music of Filtron M is the emphasis on layered rhythms, grooves and bass lines which Manu Koch’s compositions are built on. Each band member provides their singular, individual voice on their instrument and the result is a contemporary global sound thanks to the collaborative arrangements, the stylistic common grounds and musical freedom given to each performer.
